Statement of Faith
The following statement reflects the doctrinal beliefs of Pasifika Mobilization.
God/The Father
We believe in one God, who is the Creator of all things, and is eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that He is holy and loving. He is also sovereign over all things.
(Psalms 39:1-16, 1 Corinthians 8:6, 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 1 Timothy 2:5)
Jesus Christ/The Son
We believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah and is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, manifested in flesh. He lived a sinless and perfect life and then offered Himself up to die for the sins of humanity upon the cross. His death paid for the atonement of the sins of humanity. He then rose again on the third day and ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of God the Father until the day He returns to judge the world.
(Isaiah 7:14, John 1:1, 2 Corinthians 5:12, 1 Peter 2:22, 1 Peter 3:18)
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is the promised comforter and takes up residence within the believer's heart. He sustains the believers and seals. He also convicts the world of its sin.
(John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 16:7-11, Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 Corinthians 12:8-13)
The Bible/Scripture
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is God's word, divinely inspired, and is without error, infallible, and entirely trustworthy within its original language. It is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.
(Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16, Revelations 22:18-19)
Humanity
We believe that men and women are created in God's image. But since the fall of man in Genesis, all people are sinners by nature. This sin has separated sinful man from a Holy God. The wages of this sin is an eternal death and separation from God. The only way to turn back to God is by believing in Jesus as their Lord and Savior and to repent of their sins.
(Genesis 1:27, Isaiah 53:6, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:12-19, 1 Corinthians 6:9)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God offered to sinners who repent and personally believe in Jesus Christ. Salvation is by God's grace alone through Faith alone. It is not by one's good works that they can obtain salvation.
(Romans 5:1, Romans 5:9, Romans 8:28-29, 2 Corinthians 7:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:8, 1 Peter 1:18-23)
Body of Christ/The Church
We believe that the church is not a building or a denomination, but a body of believers. The head of the church is Jesus Christ and the body is made up of people who have placed their trust in Christ. There are two aspects to the church: The local church and the global church. The global church is also known as Christ's bride and is made up of every believer. The local church is an organized, local gathering of baptized believers.
(Acts 2:42, Acts 20:28, Romans 12:4-5, 1 Corinthians 1:2 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 1:22, 1 Timothy 12:11-14, Hebrews 10:25, Revelations 21:2)
The Great Commission
We believe that Christ commanded the Church to go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching those who believe to obey all that Christ commanded.
(Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-47, John 20:21, Acts 1:8, Revelations 7:9)
Marriage and Sexuality
We believe the Scriptures teach that God created man and woman as unique biological persons. God’s plan for the union of marriage is that a biological man and a biological woman come together in covenant to be one flesh for life. God’s plan for sexual union is for its expression to be only within the bounds of this male and female marital union. We believe that a person’s true identity is found and fulfilled in Christ alone and in a relationship with him. Therefore, a Christian is not to embrace identities, desires, and behaviours that are contrary to the expressed teaching of Scripture.
(Genesis 1:27-28, Mathew 19:5-6, Mark 10:6-9, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9)
Other Secondary Doctrine
In matters not addressed by our Statement of Faith, Pasifika Mobilization acknowledges differing points of view provided they are based on the Bible as supreme authority, and that no interpretation or practice will undermine the work of the gospel or the unity among those with whom we serve. We seek to live, work and relate to one another in a spirit of love and humility, as outlined in Romans 14, 1 Corinthians 13 and Ephesians 4.
